Egghead Sando Cafe
Egghead Sando Cafe, located at 519 W Capitol Expy, San Jose, CA 95136, offers a unique and delightful dining experience, especially for fans of hearty sandwiches and creative breakfast options. Known for its affordability and high-quality food, Egghead Sando Cafe is a local favorite for both casual meals and weekend brunches.
The standout feature of the cafe is its signature sandwiches. The chicken sandwiches, in particular, are a crowd favorite, with juicy chicken pieces so generously sized that they often don't quite fit within the bun, making every bite a satisfying experience. The eggs are always cooked to perfection, adding a rich, flavorful touch to the sandwiches. Additionally, the restaurant’s limited yet well-curated menu allows for a focus on quality, ensuring that each dish is prepared with care and attention to detail.
Egghead Sando Cafe also offers a breakfast/brunch menu that has something for everyone. Guests can enjoy items like a breakfast salad made with eggs, cheese, bacon, and fresh arugula, dressed in a tangy balsamic vinaigrette. For those who prefer something indulgent, waffle fries are a perfect side, making the meal complete. The cafe’s night-time menu features a popular smash burger, adding variety for those looking to switch things up.
Beyond the food, Egghead Sando Cafe is known for its excellent customer service. The staff is attentive and friendly, with many returning customers praising the personal touch and warm service. The location in a plaza with ample parking is a definite advantage, especially compared to other busier spots in downtown. While the indoor seating may be limited, it is rarely an issue as the cafe often operates at a comfortable pace.
The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for a quick meal or a leisurely brunch. Despite the slightly higher price point, many patrons feel the generous portions and quality ingredients make the value worthwhile. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a longer meal, Egghead Sando Cafe delivers both great food and a welcoming atmosphere.
Egghead Sando Cafe Reviews
I came here a few weeks ago for their night time version that sells smash burgers for a YEE and we wanted to come back and check out what their breakfast/brunch menu was like. I think like the dinner time menu where there is a limited amount of options, it allows them to really perfect what they are doing. I didn't get a photo of the boyfriend's breakfast sandwich because wolfed it down before I could take a photo, but he said it was delicious and messy and ended up having to eat it with a fork. I got the salad option which was an egg with cheese and bacon on a bed of arugula. It's kind of like a breakfast salad! It was really delicious and came with a balsamic kind of vinaigrette. With getting the healthier option, I also had to get an order of waffle fries (which he helped me with after eating his whole breakfast sandwich in two minutes!). I also got the green tea with juice which was good, though I probably should have gotten the zero sugar option since it was a little sweet for me. The service is really outstanding here - they remembered us from last time and brought our food out to the patio area. The interior was kind of packed when we went, probably because it's a holiday and everyone wanted to grab a sandwich for lunch! Also with eggs being so expensive at the supermarket, probably cheaper to have someone else making it for you!
Food is good just a little pricey for a sandwich good portion though Service is great. Ambiance is great nice area to eat .
the friendly staff made my day after a rough morning. the egg sandwiches was also worth the trip too especially the delicious scramble sandwich with the brioche bun! so yum! the summer break drink was also refreshing such a welcoming and quick breakfast spot
This was my second visit to Egghead, and it remains the best egg sandwich spot I've ever been to. I ordered "The Chic," and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and enormous! The sandwich comes with an over-medium egg, and I decided to add avocado for an extra cost. The combination of the crispy hand-battered chicken, creamy avocado, and perfectly cooked egg was heavenly. It was a bit messy to eat, but totally worth it--easily a 10/10! I also tried the strawberry hojicha latte. While I appreciate that they used fresh strawberries, I found the drink a bit disappointing. I ordered it with half the sugar, but it ended up tasting bland. The strawberry pieces weren't pureed enough, so they kept getting stuck in the straw, which was frustrating. Overall, I would rate the drink a 5/10. Next time, I might try it with regular sugar to see if it improves. The ambiance inside the café is great--it's clean, modern, and welcoming. The service was quick and efficient, which made the experience even better. Overall, Egghead is still my favorite spot for egg sandwiches. "The Chic" is a must-try, and I can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu!
I LOVE EGGHEAD SO MUCH. it is so affordable and the chicken in the sandwiches are so huge that they do not fit in the buns. The chicken is so huge and the egg is cooked to perfection. I know there are other locations but I go only go to this location because there is easy parking and great service. Since the other location is downtown I am not sure if the parking situation there is great. But this egghead is in a plaza with plenty of parking. The inside does have limited seating but usually there aren't that many people so it works out.
